Baby Naming Ceremony

Baby Naming Ceremony

A Baby Naming Day is a special ceremony that celebrates your precious child and formally welcomes them into the world.

Surround your child with warmth and Baby Naming Ceremony Casuarinalove and let them know how important they are. Family and friends are reminded of the joys and responsibilities of raising a child. A Baby Naming Ceremony follows the tradition of recognising the roles of parents, godparents / guardians, grandparents and all the people that are important in the life of your child.

The Baby Naming Ceremony itself, is regarded as a
modern-day alternative to a christening or baptism. Ceremonies tend to be non-religious, but can be tailored to accommodate different cultural traditions, faiths and beliefs. Ceremonies are often held during a child’s first year of life or on their first birthday. The ceremony has no legal standing but instead offers blessings for your child. Registration of the child’s birth is a lodgment with Births Deaths and Marriages at time of birth.

Maggie Costello is a Civil Celebrant that designs Naming Days specifically with babies and children in mind. Maggie will work with you to create a ceremony befitting of such a joyful occasion. Whether you wish to celebrate the arrival of a new baby or unite foster or step children within your family.

Many Naming Ceremonies are done in the parent’s home, however parks, beaches and a choice of many great local restaurant make excellent venues for a Naming Ceremony.

The Naming ceremony includes:

  • Welcoming the child into the family unit.
  • Announcing the names you have chosen for your child and the reasons/meanings
    behind the names.
  • Making promises to nurture and support your child until they reach adulthood.
  • The choice of adding a Naming Ritual: the wishing tree, wishing bowl, releasing of balloons,
or a choice of many more.
  • Choosing other adults and/or family members (Guardian or God Parents) who are prepared
to promise a special supportive relationship to the child
